Summary
In “Emmett,” the twins unveiled Emmett’s car, which they had painted yellow, a color Emmett did not care for, but they assured him the police would not recognize him. They also said they had added more horsepower to the engine. As Emmett drove Townhouse back to his home, Townhouse told Emmett he was thinking about joining the military. Emmett reminded Townhouse the military would be like reform school, he would have to follow orders and wear a uniform. Townhouse told Emmett that as a Black man, he would always have to wear a uniform so he should choose the one that suited him the best.
Emmett met up with Sally and Billy in Times Square, the place where the Lincoln Highway started, but instead of heading to California, he decided he needed to pay Duchess and Woolly a visit.
