Summary

In Chapter 24, Cassie told Daniel, Abby, Rafe, and Justin she needed to know who had stabbed her because she had been pregnant and had lost the baby. Rafe stood up, his fists closed, yelling that was his baby, and that it was dead because of Justin. Rafe charged, pushing Cassie out of the way. Daniel fired the revolver at the ceiling, shocking them all into silence. He trained the gun on Cassie. Daniel and Cassie both knew that Sam and Frank had heard the shot and would have police at the house in minutes. Daniel was smiling at her. Abby heard the police sirens and warned Daniel and Cassie to put their guns away. Daniel told her it was not that simple. He said he would get them all out of the situation he had gotten them into.
