Futh

Futh is a middle-aged man recently separated from his wife, Angela, who works as a maker of synthetic scents. He goes on a walking holiday through Germany along the Rhine, that triggers memories of his mother's abandonment, and the series of events leading to his separation from Angela. Futh also often think of his father, especially his expectations imposed on Futh's masculinity, and of Gloria, a recent divorcee and his next-door neighbor, who tries to seduce him as a young man. While on his Germany trip, his memories are usually sparked by scents that remind him of events connected to his conflicts and missteps in his troubled relationships. Especially important to him, is the scent of violets, that he associates to his mother's Dralle perfume in a silver lighthouse container.
