Summary
Ester goes to the hairdresser and gets a pixie cut and bleach like she had when she was 21. She also buys a new pair of stiletto shoes, but notices that her calves do not look as they did when she was young. She buys a new dress, but in the washroom of a cafe, she notices her dress matched the toilet paper. Her hairdresser comments that the cut and dye would make her look tired, and she is right, but Ester walks with her same confidence. Ester heard stories of Bernard punching men who would just look at his ex girlfriends. She wondered whether he never cared enough about her to do the same for her.
