Summary
In Chapter 10, during the first six months of their relationship, Lucy does everything she can to learn more about Gabe. One day, she comes into his apartment and sees him on the floor organizing small pieces of paper. He explains that it is his mother’s birthday soon and since he cannot fly over to see her, he wants to make her something special. The pieces of paper are actually photographs of her and him together. He tells Lucy he wants to arrange them by color to make a kaleidoscope. She asks him why a kaleidoscope and he tells her “I’ve never told anyone this story before” (42).
