Section 10, Pages 230 - 254 Summary
Peter Fungabera brings in a Giboon adder in a cage and tells Tungata that if he doesn't tell him where Lobengula's tomb is, he will get the adder to bite him - a death sentence. They attach a fencing style helmet to his head, and join it with the snake's cage. They use hot coals to chase the snake up the connecting tube. It coils around Tungata's face, and when the snake doesn't bite him, Peter antagonizes it with heat. Tungata finally gives in to his fear and screams and loses consciousness. The doctor gives Tungata a shot of adrenaline, and antibiotics for the two snakebites as Tungata regains consciousness. They confess that the snakes' poison sacs had been removed - this time. They send him back to his cage, and continue his regiment of little water, interspersed with...
