Section 3: Pages 50 - 76 Summary

Craig returns to Jock Daniels, makes calls regarding the Rholands Ranching Company property, and makes an appointment to see Minister Tungata. In the days before his appointment, he visits families that were friends in the past, and he is welcomed warmly. He goes back to Jock to find his offer to purchase Rholands has been countered and the owners want half a million - firm. It is exactly as he expected, but the meeting with Tungata does not go as well. He greets the Minister in the Sindebele tradition of respect, but he is not welcomed. Tungata all but throws him out, telling him that he will never approve his application to buy land in Zimbabwe. It is obvious that he has been under state surveillance since he first arrived.
