Summary
At the beginning of Chapter 20, Polly says that four months after Deming left, she left her life in Fuzhou to move to Hong Kong. As she takes the ferry to Kowloon, Polly laughs and realizes that she has returned to being Polly Guo. She remembers walking a bridge in New York between the Bronx and Manhattan. They played the usual game of trying to guess what people were doing in their apartments. As the sun set, Deming shouted his name into the air over the railing of the bridge, and Polly did the same.
In Chapter 21, Daniel is back in New York, playing songs alone. He is still working at Tres Locos and teaching guitar lessons to wealthy Upper West Side kids, and has just repaid his debt to Angel. He also teaches an after-school music class in Chinatown that he loves. The...
