Summary
Ballard had a slow solo night shift, and used the time to research the three criminal victims from the Dancers shooting. She discovered their sentences had all overlapped while serving time in a detention center, and Ballard concluded they had likely met there. When her shift ended, she set off to Dean Towson’s address. When he answered the door, she claimed to need to re-interview him for bureaucratic reasons, and he reluctantly invited her in. He gave her a quick rundown of the charges he had been defending Fabian against, which were steep, and then hinted that he had told Fabian that his only way out would be to give up another criminal. Fabian had mentioned he knew a crooked cop. Ballard then realized that a corrupt police officer would fit the profile for the shooter, and thanked Towson for his help...
