Emma Davis
Emma Davis is the narrator and main character of the novel. She was staying in the cabin with Vivian, Natalie, and Allison when they disappeared. Emma spent the fifteen years since that time feeling guilty because she believed she was responsible for the girls’ disappearances. On the night of the disappearances, Emma had been angry with Vivian because she believed Vivian had sex with a boy they both liked. As Vivian, Natalie, and Allison were leaving the cabin that night, she told Vivian she hoped they never came back. Later, when Vivian came back, Emma did not let her inside.
The detective suggested to Emma that someone with whom Vivian had a love interest might have hurt her. Since Emma believed she saw Vivian having sex with Theo, an accusation Vivian had not denied, Emma told the detective Theo and Vivian were seeing each other. She later...
