Part 1: Chapter 7: My Karate Demonstration Summary
Charlie remembers his karate demonstration as he is pursued down the hall, recalling how nervous he had been about Beth Summers sitting in the front. He recalls how Principal Woodman introduced him, and how he stammered through the introduction, calling him Harley instead of Charlie at first. He remembers the polite applause that came with his introduction, and the fidgeting that occurred as he set up the three concrete blocks that were part of his routine. When he had been ready to begin, he had addressed the audience, telling them he planned to perform a 'kata' which is a series of movements that mimic fighting several opponents at once.
