Bexley, Connecticut
The small, quiet town of Bexley, Connecticut is where the Skinner siblings all grow up together in the 1980's. Up until the death of Ellis, the father of the family, the four Skinner siblings all had an idyllic upbringing. After the death of Ellis, the Skinner siblings are mostly able to look after themselves in the town, including spending much of their time playing in a local pond. However, the town is not completely free of danger, as Renee is sexually assaulted by a man as she walks home from school, an attack that is not deterred by anyone even as she runs through the neighborhoods.
