Chapters 17 and 18 Summary

As chapter seventeen opens, Percy, Annabeth, and Clarisse are hovering over Selina. Selina admits to being the spy. She then dies. They decide that she will be remembered as a hero, who led Ares cabin into battle, leading to the defeat of the drakon. No mention is to be made of her being the spy.

Percy, Grover, and Annabeth head up to Olympus to prepare for the final battle. Percy sits in his father's throne, inspiring the wrath of Poseidon. Percy explains that it was the only way he could think to get his father's attention, and pleads with Poseidon to abandon his sea palace and fight with the other gods. Finally, after some arguing, Poseidon gives in and pledges his help to the other gods. Meanwhile, Kronos is leading his army to the doors of the Empire State Building.
