Summary

Chapter 39 is titled “A Noteworthy Neighbor.” Bo and Sai catch crabs and have access to fresh water and fruit. Bo recovers over the next five days. Bo and Sai take turns wearing her warm cloak. They make a shelter from the rowboat, but set out to find something better. When Sai finds a cave, she knows this could be their answer. When she looks inside, she sees the reflection of many scales. The slake is coiled around four eggs. As Sai watches, the slake adjusts the rocky nest and settles back to sleep. Sai knows that humans would kill this dragon.
