Summary

In Chapter 21, “An Even Less Likely Partnership,” Sai learns that most of the crew plans to play cards with Rian in the galley, and takes the opportunity to take Bo on deck. Bo asks about An Lung. Unable to really explain, Sai says, “Rains a lot.” Bo accepts that. Bo was born in another Amnaj, but is of mixed ancestry. His father was killed in the war, but his mother has been gone for years. He lived with an aunt on Pitaya Island until she died. His life with her was happy, though he says she told some “wild stories” as she lost her grip on reality. He is hoping to build a new life for himself in An Lung. Sai and Bo hear Rian and Paiyoon arguing about the Sunderlands. Paiyoon says the Sunderlands are a myth. When they are alone again...
