Summary
Chapter 14 opens with a note that reads, “Your hotel, midday. J.” (193). Anthony receives it at the newspaper office. He keeps replaying her words from the previous night that said she was going to meet him the night he left London. Anthony has a complex conversation with a secretary named Cheryl who says there is an office pool about the name of the woman who left the note. Anthony has a meeting at the newspaper and arrives late to meet Jennifer. They talk about his life. He says he barely sees Phillip, has been dating an American girl in New York, and is desperate to get back into the action. Anthony eventually asks why she wanted to see him.
