The Infinity Tattoo
The symbol, in its entirety, represents balance and being aware of all the possibilities that lie in front of oneself. The infinity symbol, which is sometimes referred to as the lemniscate, looks like a sideways eight and is the mathematical symbol for the concept of infinity. Both Sadie and Avery have this tattoo, which was planned by Sadie. Avery's infinity tattoo looks somewhat broken, like the curved S on Sadie's necklace. The fact that Avery's tattoo looks incomplete and broken reflects the idea that she is incomplete, especially after losing Sadie. Avery has already lost her parents and grandmother, and she has also lost her relationships with Connor and Faith. Avery is not able to find balance and awareness until the end of the novel, after Collins and the Lomans are exposed for who they really are.
