Summary

Chapter 9 commences with Avery deleting the extra thumbprint to Sadie's phone so that only Avery will be able to access its content. Avery thinks that no one would notice the change if she were to show it to the Lomans or the police. Avery then goes to the police station and asks to speak with Detective Collins. It triggers the memory of the night her parents died. Avery reveals that she never said good-bye to them since she was on her phone when they left. Her grandmother survived the crash with just a neck injury. In the present, Avery meets with Collins, who tells Avery that the police released Sadie's items to Parker that day. This triggers another memory, this time of Avery and Sadie nearly getting arrested for breaking into the dock office of Connor's father. At the end of the chapter...
