Point of View

The novel is written in first person from the sole perspective of 13-year-old Petra Pena. There are a lot of factors that affect an individual's ability to be honest and reliable, including that character's experiences. Petra is in an unusual situation. Halley's Comet is about to destroy Earth as the story opens, and Petra is about to board a space ship with her brother and parents.
