The Ship

Petra and her family are scheduled to leave Earth onboard a space ship kept in Colorado. Petra's ship is one of three. The ship is huge and reminds Petra of a praying mantis. There are some details about the ship, but most of the descriptions are about the ship after Petra is revived from stasis. There are several important areas of the ship, including the room where Petra sleeps with the other three children, the laboratories where they all work on their assignments, and Nyla's room where Petra discovers all the “relics” from Earth.

The Common Area

This part of the ship is arguably one of the most important. When Petra arrives with her family, Ben shows her that the huge common area has been crafted to look like a park. There are trails and benches as part of this area. Petra observes an eating are that...
