Summary

In Chapter 25, Petra enters the common area that is filled with holographic scenes made to look like the planet. She feels the members of the Collective do not deserve to even be part of this holographic experience. Nyla announces that Len has died. Hammerhead looks sad for a moment, then takes a drink. His face becomes blank. Nyla says they have located a settlement but will “ensure peace, by eliminating any chance of a future war” (235). Nyla plans to spend the next few generations repairing their genetics so they can survive on Sagan. Petra is horrified to see Nyla has one of the toxin vials with her. Nyla and Petra have a brief conversation, and Nyla hands Petra the vial to return to the lab. Petra realizes she and the others will have to leave immediately.
