Summary

In Chapter 5, Javier becomes frightened as he changes into shorts and prepares to enter one of the stasis pods. Bed tries to reassure him, but Amy steps in, saying Javier does not understand. Petra tells him a story, saying their dead ancestors have become the stars that will be watching over them. Though Lita had reassured Petra with this story, Javier becomes frantic at the idea of the ghosts that will surround him. Ben says they have very little time, and Petra watches as one of the Cogs is placed against the base of Javier's neck and he goes limp into sleep. She turns away for the rest of the process.
