Summary
Fast-paced, wide-reaching, and lighthearted, this chapter provides exactly what the title suggests: Haddish's true Hollywood stories. Since "everyone who lives in LA has a Scientology story," that's where she begins (223). She joined Scientology briefly, and for two main reasons: a place to stay, and their promise to "take the hurt out of memories" (223). However, the dorm room while she was staying there had bunk beds, and due to the violence and ridicule she suffered at an orphanage in her childhood, bunk beds immediately brought up terrifying memories. Even though many people have trouble leaving Scientology, Haddish went "straight hood" on them about not wanting to sleep in bunk beds, and she was allowed to leave "pretty quick" (225).
