The County
The county refers to the general world that the characters inhabit. Much of the county is unexplored during the course of the book. It's clear that this is a fantastical world with supernatural threats.
Tom’s Farmhouse
Tom starts the book at his farmhouse, located right near the town of Horshaw. It has been in his family for some time and will soon be inherited by his older brother, Jack. Tom returns to the farmhouse several times when he needs to rest or to figure out something significant in his life. The farmhouse starts to feel less like home by the end of the book, and he’s only allowed back during the day because of the danger that his job could bring to the family.
