Chapter Eleven

Tom runs into Alice a few days later near the village. She apologizes for being too weak to have done what was right. Tom is confused, but he finds out what she means when Lizzie and Tusk ambush him. They drag him away and prepare a bite for him. Lizzie feeds him a potion that makes him hallucinate. She warns him that Gregory’s last apprentice, Billy, is going to come after him as she tossed his bones inside the pit. Billy does show up, but his appearance reminds Tom about the difference between reality and dreaming. Tom realizes it was just the potion making him see things. Alice returns, and Tom convinces her to help him. With her help, the two manage to escape, but Lizzie and Tusk chase after them. Before they can descend on the pair, Gregory shows...
