Summary
When Eve and Vera wake up in the morning, they find a note from Helen informing them that a party is being hosted at the castle that evening for George’s birthday. The invitation also includes the location of Sal’s car accident. Although Jane insists that there is no sense in attending a ball, Vera privately wonders whether there might be value in attempting to cut a deal with Helen and George, whom she is increasingly certain are trying to kill them. She convinces Eve to go along with this plan, and the pair of them bake a cake together, which they in turn bring to the ball. In the meantime, Jane sinks further into a depressive realization that Pearl is not faring very well, and is likely to pass away if she does not begin eating soon. She ignores...
