San Diego
San Diego is the primary setting of "The Largesse of the Sea Maiden." Bill Whitman lives in a suburb outside of the city with his wife, Elaine. In San Diego, he works writing brochures for California resorts. The neighborhood that Bill and Elaine live in is fairly quiet, and Bill often finds himself walking around the docile streets at night when he is unable to sleep. The city itself is also the location of several significant scenes throughout the story, such as the dinner party and Miller Thomas’s house, the museum where Bill meets Tony Fido, and Tony Fido’s memorial service.
New York City
