Summary
In Chapter 7, Eustace had to rescue Leonard after discovering him in a poor woman’s hut, where his new comrades had abandoned him when he fell ill. They had robbed him first, leaving Leonard helpless and terrified of his elderly caretaker, who (due to his feverish hallucinations, and inability to understand Spanish) he believed to be a witch. The Prince, who had also been ill, finally announced that it was time to return to France. Eustace received high praise for his leadership skills, but since there was no more need for the Lances of Lynwood, they disbanded and Eustace joined the Prince’s own troop. Leonard returned home, and Gaston insisted on staying with Eustace. The chapter concludes by noting that Enrique later retook Castile and killed Pedro.
