Summary
In Chapter 4, at Navaretta, the army split into two divisions, with the Lances of Lynwood assigned to the Duke of Lancaster (John of Gaunt). They easily defeated their Spanish opponents (led by Enrique’s cowardly brother Don Tello), and eventually triumphed over Enrique’s French supporters too. After the battle, Reginald chased Enrique, who managed to escape when a knight intervened with an axe. The knight wounded Reginald and Gaston, but Eustace kept fighting until more men turned up. Eustace prevented them from killing the mystery knight, and urged him to surrender. The knight agreed to be Eustace’s prisoner, before Pedro appeared and identified him as Bertrand du Guesclin. Eustace tried to protect du Guesclin from the furious Pedro, until the Prince arrived.
