Summary
In “Chapter 1”, 30 year old Stella Lane was out having lunch with her parents. Her mother told her she wanted grandchildren and Stella got anxious at the thought of dating and sex. To distract her parents she told them she got a promotion but that she did not take it as it involved more client interaction. As a person with Asperger’s syndrome, Stella preferred working solely with data in her position as an econometrician. Her mother told her it was important to challenge herself. After lunch, Stella went to work at her office and encountered a colleague, Philip James, that her mother had suggested she go out with.
