Summary
In Chapter 4, “Prisoners in the Tower,” Owen takes time to check in on Dunsdworth and Eyric in their tower prison. As always, Owen gives Eyric a book and takes one back. Eyric and Kathryn communicate through this method, carefully writing in the margins in a way that seem to be nothing more than noting interesting passages. Next, Owen meets up with Etayne at Dragan's cell. He is the man accused of trying to help Dunsdworth and Eyric escape. They step into the cell and Etayne uses her Fountain magic to change her appearance. She says, “It's not him” (36), and they leave the cell. Despite her words to the contrary, Owen knows that Dragan is Etayne's father, and that she disguised herself to keep him from recognizing her.
