Point of View
The novel is written first person from the limited perspective of Nannerl Mozart. The limited perspective is necessary in order to preserve the twists of the novel, and is further limited by the fact that Nannerl is sometimes not certain about specific details. For example, Nannerl meets a faery boy named Hyacinth and she and Woferl wind up in Hyacinth's kingdom. This kingdom becomes known as the Kingdom of Back because that is the name Nannerl and Woferl decide on. They imagine many aspects of this kingdom, which them become reality. That lends the possibility that the kingdom is not real and that it only exists in Nannerl's imagination. It could be that she only imagines Woferl being there with her because they are so often together. It could also be that Nannerl uses this kingdom and her relationship with Hyacinth to help her cope...
