Summary
The next chapter is titled “The Devil's Dance.” Years have passed since Nannerl first performed in Vienna. They settle into the home of a goldsmith named Herr Schmalecker. They have a meal together and their host talks about the upcoming wedding. Leopold seems tired. They spend their time wandering the city, waiting to be summoned to perform at court. Hyacinth summons Nannerl when her family attends an opera. They arrive at the castle where Nannerl finds a huge buffet on the lawn. The little faeries that always surround Hyacinth are vicious as they pinch and bite her until Hyacinth orders them away.
