Chapter One Summary
Chapter One opens in Talladega Falls, Georgia where skeletons have been found near the Falls. Sheriff Bosworth and Joe Quinn are discussing how long they have been in the ground and the fact that they wouldn't have been found if the rains hadn't caused some floods and mudslides. Joe is disappointed that the skeletons are too large to be children. Joe has been looking for one particular child for a number of years. During a discussion about the recovering of the bodiess, the Sheriff realizes that Joe Quinn is the skeleton man. In a paragraph we learn that Joe has found several bodies in the past. As Joe is returning to his car, Bosworth watches him and thinks about what he knows about Joe. Joe is an ex-seal and former FBI agent. He is presently working for the Atlanta Police Department...
