Part One, Joanna: Chapters 6-11 Summary
While sitting in bed reading that night, Alex suddenly realizes why Joanna seems familiar to him. Joanna bears a remarkable resemblance to the daughter of a United States Senator, who went missing more than a decade before. Alex, as the owner of a large private detective agency, was hired to investigate the case. Lisa Chelgrin disappeared from her father's vacation home in Jamaica twelve years ago, and the local police were of little use in tracking the woman down. However, Alex had no luck tracking her either. Alex calls his office and asks that the files on the Chelgrin case be sent to him via a courier as quickly as possible.
