Summary
In Chapter 8.1, Charlotte is upset by her family’s seeming dysfunction, and she therefore has difficulty enjoying the next part of the cruise. As the family watches a music show in the ship’s theater area, Charlotte wishes she had not come on the cruise, and she feels that her children’s personal issues are her fault. In Chapter 8.2, the next day at breakfast, Regan says that Matt did not come back to her room the previous night. Regan accuses Lee of having sex with Matt, which Lee angrily denies. In Chapter 8.3, the family tours a city in Italy. At one point, Regan speaks privately to Charlotte. Regan says that she and Matt will likely be divorcing soon, and that Regan will need financial help from Charlotte. Charlotte agrees to help. Chapter 8.4 flashes back to the previous night.
