Summary
In Chapter 6.1, Charlotte attends a Sunday religious service in a small chapel room on the ship. She speaks to another passenger at the service, who recommends some interesting cultural things to see in Greece. The narrative then inserts the essay that Charlotte had written for the contest. The essay tells the story of Charlotte’s first sexual experience. She was a teenager and was on a trip to Europe, where she met a famous painter. They had sex, and then he painted a nude portrait of her, which then became a fairly well known artwork. (Charlotte’s children know nothing of this.) In Chapter 6.2, Cord calls Georgie, the woman who is his contact at 3rd Eyez. Georgie informs him that she is pregnant and will be leaving 3rd Eyez. Cord is happy for her but is worried that her departure will hurt the company...
