Summary

In Chapter 1.8, Lee meets Charlotte at the Atlanta airport. Lee has not yet told Charlotte about Jason leaving Lee. Lee has also begun to consider giving up acting. Regan arrives, and Lee feels embarrassed. In Lee’s view, Regan is more mature and composed, despite the fact that Lee is the eldest sibling and Regan is the youngest. Cord is flying out of New York City and will meet them in Greece. In Chapter 1.9, on the plane, Charlotte thinks about her life and family. Charlotte worries that her relationship with her children is dysfunctional; she worries that she might be to blame somehow. She was a single mother after Winston’s death. Charlotte’s childhood had been difficult, as her parents had often been harsh and inattentive.
