Summary
In Chapter 11, over lunch in Neiman Marcus on Union Square Alma told Irina about Nathaniel, her husband. She said he was as generous as his father, Isaac, had been before him. She and Irina began talking about the financial troubles of the seniors at Lark House. She told Irina she planned to help by arranging for the Belasco Foundation to take care of the grounds and parks so that money spent on those projects could be used to help the seniors who had trouble paying their medical bills.
Back at Lark House, Voigt was surprised Irina got such good performance reports from the residents. He did not realize she treated each person with the same respect she treated her grandparents in Moldova. She remembered how hard her grandparents had worked to feed the family.
