Part 2, The Adulterous Princesses; Chapter's 11-12 Summary and Analysis

The final chapters of Part Two sees further calamity fall upon the reign of King Philip the Fair, as disastrous news is brought to the court on the very day after his daughter's in law are imprisoned for adultery.

The first chapter in the part, "The Palace of Martrei" records the events of the execution of the brothers Aunay, again in gruesome detail. The Aunay brothers are executed before the crowds of Pontoise while their lovers are forced to watch from cart, dressed in black.. The people of the crowd seem to find the event festive as they joke with their lecherous husbands or are whipped into hysteria by the occasion.
