Dachau Concentration Camp

Dachau Concentration Camp is the camp that was liberated by Sheeran and the members of his military unit. It is noted in the book that the death and suffering that Sheeran saw in this camp haunted him for the rest of his life. He and his fellow soldiers found the train cars full of dead and decomposing bodies outside the camp. Sheeran also described how the prisoners were given guns by the soldiers so that they could kill the SS guards. Sheeran estimated that 500 guards were killed at the camp, but historians did not agree with his numbers. The believed only 30-50 guards were killed at Dachau.
