Summary

In the “Introduction,” the narrator notes that Sheeran was dying of cancer when he finally told “his version of his story” (4) to his lawyer. While some things Sheeran discussed were public knowledge, Sheeran also admitted to being connected to previously unknown activities like supplying weapons for the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the murder of Jimmy Hoffa. The narrator points out that Sheeran’s claims have not been verified. There are some facts and other accounts that conflict with some of his claims.

The opening of Chapter 1 is set on April 29, 1945, the day that soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division liberated the Dachau concentration camp.
