Summary
In Chapter 30, Nicky directed the children to join hands. As their power increased, the children from Ward A joined them. The combined power, however, was not enough to break the lock.
In Chapter 31, Hendricks reminds Stackhouse that even though the children could not physically get out of the tunnel they might be able to influence the staff with the power of their minds. Stackhouse makes an announcement to the caretakers in the Front Half of the Institute that they should be aware the children might try to send them subliminal messages. Hendricks explained the children could only plant those ideas if their subjects were unsuspecting.
