Mockbeggar

Mockbeggar is the town closest to Orphan's Cove. Throughout the novel Ada and Evered referred to Mockbeggar as their safety net if they were not able to support themselves living on the cove. Mary Orman was the only person they know from the town, having never been there. Their fear and hesitation to relocate to Mockbeggar was largely steeped in their lack of experience living in a town and Ada's fear of leaving Martha alone.

Orphan's Cove

Orphan's Cove is the name the villagers in Mockbeggar gave the cove where the Best's live. Ada and Evered had not learned the word orphan until they were told that outsiders had named the cove after them.
