Summary

In the chapter, "A Bear. The Beadle, Again.", Evered negotiated with the Beadle aboard The Hope. Ada was still adamant that she would not leave Martha despite the difficulty of surviving in the cove. When Evered returned, Ada recognized his altered demeanor and remembered her mother saying that what happened aboard The Hope was men’s business.
