Summary
In Chapter 12, in 1990, one of the inmates on death row was executed. In 1991, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals voted in favor of Ron’s conviction and sentence. The same court then also voted in favor of Dennis Fritz’s conviction and sentence. Soon after, Greg Wilhoit was granted a new trial because his lawyer had been deemed incompetent. Greg’s family posted bail, and Greg was eventually exonerated, so he never had to return to jail. In 1990, Ron and the other death row inmates were moved into newly constructed cells where the conditions were even worse than before. The prison’s medical staff tried to treat Ron’s developing physical and mental ailments, but they were often barred from doing so.
