Summary

As Scene Four continues, the action again flows smoothly as it transitions into a conversation between Eric, Toby, and Adam a few weeks later. The conversation reveals that Adam is culturally naïve, leading Eric and Toby to start educating him about film, theatre, and life. Morgan comments in his narration that it was the first time Adam had been mentored by older gay men, and that Toby eventually started spending more time working on his play than with Adam and Eric.

What follows is a sequence of brief vignettes in which Adam asks Eric whether Toby would let him (Adam) audition for his play … Toby refuses … Toby confronts Adam first about asking Eric rather than him about the audition, and then about how challenging the role is … Toby tells Eric how good Adam was...
