Summary
In Chapter 56, three hours later, Oren let Avery go back to Hawthorne House. Oren said all of the Hawthornes and the staff members had alibis that checked out based on security footage. It was only when Avery saw Alisa that she started crying. She accused Oren and Alisa of lying to her when they told her that she was not in danger. Avery was shocked when Alisa suggested Libby had cooperated with the shooter because she thought she would inherit Avery’s money. Alisa also noted Grayson had a motive. If Avery did not live, control of the foundation would revert to the Hawthorne grandsons.
