Summary

Part V: The Price opens with Chapter 31 as Cassie plans to kill Evan when he wakes, and Zombie, wanting to know where Teacup and Poundcake are, slaps Evan to wake him. When that fails, he decides to search for them, and though Cassie convinces him it is a stupid risk, she does not know what to do.

While Dumbo keeps watch in Chapter 32, Zombie asks why Cassie did not shoot Evan in the head and ponders what took him so long to find them. He insist they should leave, despite Cassie's protests against splitting up, and when he leaves her alone with Evan, Evan wakes enough to whisper "Mayfly" (page 123).

Cassie's knees weaken when Evan opens his eyes in Chapter 33, but loving him is illogical so she tells him to go to hell once he assures her that he...
