Summary
Part III: The Last Star opens with Chapter 15 in which Evan recalls his unpleasant childhood dreams of owls as his life slips away. The recurring dream stopped at age 13 when his awakened self needed the owl's gifts, and "he understood the dreams' purpose because his purpose had been revealed. Make ready. Prepare the way." (page 69). He feels no pain, knowing he will be reborn after the last human dies with no recollection of the past 18 years; he will even lose her face and his time with her, but that is the price of saving Cassiopeia within whom the universe is contained.
